Photo Map LookBermuda and the Bermuda Biodiversity Project have collaborated to create this interactive aerial photo map of bermuda, which allows the end user to view an extremely high resolution image of the island. This detailed aerial image of Bermuda is based on vertical aerial photography taken in 1997 at a height of 4,500 metres. Over 100 photos were taken along a crisscrossing network of flight paths over Bermuda, and seamed together resulting in an orthograph, which has the geographical accuracy of a map, with the immense detail of a photograph. The Bermuda Biodiversity Project team is currently using the digital map to develop a baseline map of Bermuda's unique natural habitats; including the most comprehensive map ever produced of Bermuda's coral reefs and sea grasses, as well as all land habitats. The Photo Map will be integrated with our other mapping products, including our LookBermuda Interactive Tourist map which can be accessed via the official Bermuda Department of Tourism web site, http://www.BermudaTourism.com, as well as our upcoming Educational Maps. |
